MICROCHIP, PET IDENTIFICATION IT'S A DEAL BREAKER IF YOUR PET HAS NO MICROCHIP, everything starts over from scratch - you get your pet implanted with a microchip, you rabies vaccinate again, etc... IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK THE MICROCHIP IN YOUR PET AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, AND AGAIN AT LEAST 5 WEEKS PRIOR TO FLIGHT - PETFLIGHT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE IN ANY WAY FOR THIS. There's no waiver you can sign, there's no pet shipper that can knowingly fly it the way it is, and no country that will accept a pet without one.
 What happens if...

PET IDENTIFICATION A bright "HI, My Name Is..." label is glued on top, to humanize the pet inside to all cargo handlers (some of whom might be having a bad day) so that, when read, your pet may be afforded more care. We photograph your pet(s) before they leave Canada, add the microchip and name to the photo, and firmly glue it to the kennel, beside the name label, to visually identify your pet (inside) to cargo handlers. Cargo destination labels are added. IN ALL THE YEARS WE'VE BEEN SHIPPPING CATS AND DOGS, WE'VE NEVER HAD A CASE WHERE THE WRONG PET ARRIVED AT THE DESTINATION. IF THAT SHOULD HAPPEN TO YOU, IT IS CLEARLY THE FAULT OF THE AIRLINE, AND WILL BE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY (AND OUR DESTINATION AGENTS') TO SORT OUT WITH YOU DIRECTLY. PETFLIGHT DOES NOT. AND WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBLITY (FINANCIAL AND OTHERWISE) FOR LOST PETS.

ORIGINALS, LEADS, LABELS & MEDICATIONS IF ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, DOG COLLARS, LEADS, &/OR MEDICATION DO NOT ARRIVE ON THE KENNEL AS WE LEFT IT, AND COSTS WILL BE INCURRED BY YOUR BECAUSE OF IT, THEN YOU WILL INCUR ALL OF THOSE COSTS WITHOUT OUR FINANCIAL INVOLVEMENT. We have found that manufactured, and printed sticky labels, when firmly stuck to plastic kennels (by the next morning) are hanging off the kennel, if not on the floor. These are ground handling, identification, and delivery labels that must remain fixed to the kennel throughout the entire transport. Without the pet inside, we spray glue areas (of all kennels we handle), and press sticky sided labels to the glue. Separate clear plastic envelopes hold all leads, collars, food, medications, and original documentation for clearing your pet at destination. The envelopes are sticky one sided, with a peel off cover. We spray glue a portion of the top of the kennel, and forcefully press the sticky side down to the glue, so there is extreme hard contact with the kennel. Not satisfied with that, we then DUCT TAPE around the envelopes to the glued surface of the kennel. It takes a great deal of force to wrench the original zip-lock sealed document package from the kennel, often leaving chunks of plastic stuck to the top, and portions of duct tape! It is NOT MEANT TO COME OFF until at destination, and yet, sometimes, someone still manages, somewhere on-route (it can’t be helped if it happens to you).
VET INSTRUCTIONS For some countries, after you have completed, signed, and emailed/faxed our Contract back to us (confirming that you are using our service to move your pets, and expect to be invoiced for the work we do), after you have agreed to a proposed flight date, we email you (and your vet) an extremely detailed test and treatment schedule which you, and they must follow precisely as directed.
This instruction provides details about your pet that your vet needs to input on their test requests (primarily the microchip number; all information we provide on that instruction is for them to use), it exactly details what days you are to take your pet(s) to your vet, and they explicitly detail what tests and/or treatments to perform on your pet(s) using exactly what products (legally available in Ontario) for the country your pet(s) are going to. You will see for yourself that the instructions show that your vet is to fully identify your pet(s) when sending tests to laboratories, including the correct microchip number(s), they are to use IDEXX collecting labs on the same day as they do the test, and if they don't have the products listed in the schedule, it is their responsibility to get them in for your appointment. The countries that require tests and treatments be done before flight, leave no time for error of any kind, and our instructions have been calculated to offer the maximum number of days for results to come back, and the proper treatments to be given with the proper time interval between treatments (there is no room for error, no matter what your vet tries to imply after the fact).
PERFECTING CERTIFICATES
Vets treat animals, and they provide certificates for work they do (they're not overseas document specialists).
All IPATA agents have to be international document specialists where documents, and rules are forever changing.
We instruct you, and your vet, how to achieve perfect conformity (using both documents, and a knowledge of the destination country's regulations) to mark your vet's certificates (for them to amend) and microchip certificates (for you to amend) as required, and we offer brief explanation in our covering email (to avoid argument). Often, your vet, and maybe you, will have errors on the second try at perfecting certificates (it's a process back and forth until perfected). Be patient.
Occasionally, a vet, or tech., refuses to follow our direction. You will be asked how to proceed; however, if you choose not to follow our direction, Petflight will not move your pet.
FOR WHATEVER REASON YOUR VET ANCHORS THEIR DECISION ON, IF THEY DECIDE NOT TO WORK WITH PETFLIGHT, WE ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR VETS' OWN CHOICE NOT TO WORK WITH US, &/OR NOT FOLLOW OUR DIRECTION, &/OR NOT CONFORM THEIR CERTIFICATES TO INTERNATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AS WE DIRECT.
27 years in business has taught us that PETFLIGHT must have copies of both the pets' rabies vaccination certificates, AND THE MICROCHIP CERTIFICATE (separate documents) for everything we ship - needed for proof of ownership and as separate documents to compare accuracy. Vet supplied microchip number 'readings' are not acceptable.
Imperfect documents meet high costs that Petflight has always had to pay - we will not ship on imperfect documents.
