We check your own vets' certificates, making corrections in felt tip pen, and we provide explanation to your vet by email why. They must make the corrections. We give a few days to get it done, then we ask them how it's coming. The point is not to upset your vet (and we do our best not to upset), the point is to avoid resistence being met at destination. Resistance means additional cost in the low hundreds of dollars per pet, up in to the thousands per pet.
WHAT PETFLIGHT DOES for more than 27 years, we accept the information you provide in your initial quote request to us, and we quote you. When you accept our quote (by adding your address, phone, signature to our contract, and emailing/faxing it back to us):
Depending on the country, we may email your vet an extremely detailed schedule for them to perform tests and treatments on your pet(s), on what dates, listing exactly what products to use (legal in Ontario, accepted at destination), you are also copied (so you know the dates to take your pet[s] to your vet). This instruction is usually emailed MONTHS prior to flight (depending on how soon your choose to use our service) so your vet has plenty of time to really become familiar with what's required, and to get the products in to use on if they don't already have them in stock.

Invariably, your vets' first correction is unsuccessful (this is normal) - it's a process. We keep correcting their documents until they issue perfected certificates that will not meet resistance. Perfection must be achieved to avoid costly resistance.
What does Petflight do for you? Why use Petflight?
We arrange for certain import permits, and quarantine, or note that it's your/an agent's responsibility to arrange; but you are required to additionally pay for these, and we USUALLY show that in our quote.
COVID-19: Petflight accepts no responsibility for a country's decision not to accept pets, and/or airlines' decisions to (not limited to): increase prices, not fly pets, change routings, cancel flights, change equipment, return live cargo (even while in the air) REGARDLESS OF A SIGNED CONTRACT THESE ARE YOUR PROBLEMS BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO YOU JUST THE SAME, HAD PETFLIGHT NOT BEEN INVOLVED, AND SO THE ADDED COSTS AND EFFORT INVOLVED ARE YOURS TO BEAR FULLY - PETFLIGHT WILL NOT ABSORB ADDITIONAL COSTS. Airlines are not offering extended quotes that are good for 30 days or more, their quotes are good for the day offered, so Petflight offers the same one day validity.
ALSO: The kennel manufacturing plant reduced production due to Covid. We are passing on the sourcing and purchase of kennels to you, based on the dimensions of our quote, using plastic kennels, as per our kennel pages.
We pick up your pet from you with plenty of time worked in to the transit for the season, expected traffic at the time of day, or you can deliver to us/our vet at a reduced price (than if we picked up from you - as stated on our quote),
We properly kennel your pet (based on the breed, dimensions, age, and weight that you state your pet to be),
We pre-advise the destination agent (if there is one),
We pay for and book the flight(s) routed through to the destination,
We want payment 30 days prior to flight, but invoice you in as much time as you give us before signing our contract.
We alert our overseas agent, and the airline of the pending pet move, learning any unknown changes to the destination requirements from IPATA, and our agent, to avoid surprises to documentation, and procedures.
We collect your pet(s) from our vet, and take them to the airline in their own properly made up kennel, with all the original documents, and copies, for the time the airline has told us to be there by, and check your pet in for flight.
We pay for and board your pet(s) for a few days at our choice of veterinary hospital, in order that they have time to complete the work perfectly, to get the paperwork to the CFIA, certifying the documents are perfect, and to allow the destination agent to comment on the finished set, giving time (still) to correct those perfect documents,
We get all documents CFIA certified furthest from flight date; often day before flight,
We email the finished set to our agent for a final review, often the day before flight,
We will often tell you if the vet finds fault with your pet that needs remedy, but doesn't preclude flight (tarter, ear mites, heart murmur, cataracts...) for you to decide treatment at destination.
